He was “satisfied with his participation,” network spokesman Kristian Golla told the AFP news agency. The total number of participants was at the level of previous years.

More demonstrations on Easter Monday

The central Easter March office in Frankfurt am Main spoke of a “growing number of participants”. “There is a relatively stable peace movement,” spokesperson Willi van Ooyen told the AFP news agency. All initiatives involved in the Easter marches are very satisfied.

Demands for a ceasefire in Ukraine and a halt to arms deliveries were the focus of the decentralized meetings in many places. Other topics included the war between Israel and the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas and the topic of disarmament in general.

More than a hundred activities were announced nationally on Saturday. The first, often smaller, events had already taken place on Thursday and Friday, but the Saturday before Easter is traditionally the first highlight of the annual Easter marches. Further demonstrations are planned for Easter Monday. (AFP)
