Israeli president speaks out about Kanye West protests in Iran: US expresses concern over Russia’s influence

Izchak Herzog applauds the numerous critical reactions to Kanye West's behavior.

Israeli head of state Izchak Herzog was released from criticism of the rapper after Kanye West’s anti-Semitic statements. “So, objectively speaking, as an Israeli, as a Jew, as a human being, I am very pleased. I am very pleased with this overwhelming response to Kanye West’s comments,” Herzog told CNN on Wednesday (local time).

“History tells us it usually starts with hating Jews.” Sports equipment manufacturer Adidas recently ended its collaboration with Kanye “Ye” West due to, among other things, anti-Semitic statements. The self-proclaimed Donald Trump fan caused a stir when he appeared wearing a shirt printed with the slogan White Lives Matter, which is considered racist.

West has often attracted attention in the past for his proximity to right-wing conservative circles and for his anti-Semitic statements. (con/sda/dpa)
