“We don’t want him”: Trump compares immigrants to this serial killer. Masked protesters break into Mexican government headquarters

Donald Trump is riding a wave of success: he followed a court victory over primary eligibility with a convincing victory on “Super Tuesday.” But before that, he caused a stir with a strange comment.

Things are going well for former US President Donald Trump at the moment – at least on the surface. First, he won a victory in court when his exclusion from primaries was found to be illegal. Colorado and Maine had previously blocked Trump.

Then came ‘Super Tuesday’ this week, the day on which more than a third of American states decide on the two parties’ respective candidate for the final duel for the presidency. And Trump relented, including in Maine and Colorado, where he was previously banned. Only in Vermont was competitor Nikki Haley able to surpass the 77-year-old.

But this Nikki Haley put the next grin on Trump’s face after the big election day. The only remaining competitor within the Republican Party declared its intention to withdraw from the match against Trump. The only thing that might upset him is that Haley refused to give him full support — in order to oppose Joe Biden, he also needs the votes of Haley’s supporters.

But overall, these are positive days for the ex-president, who gave an interview to the right-wing conservative American media RSBN in the run-up to ‘Super Tuesday’. There he caused a stir with a statement that was bizarre even by his standards.

Trump spoke, among other things, about illegal migration, which is currently causing problems for the US. He made it clear what he thinks about immigrants: “Millions and millions of people come to our country illegally. And they come from unknown places and they are clumsy people.” And further:

“They come from prisons, institutions and psychiatric institutions. You know, mentally disturbed people, that Silence of the Lambs stuff.”

And Trump wasn’t done with his comparisons to horror thrillers:

“They look like Hannibal Lecter, does anyone know Hannibal Lecter? We don’t want that in our country.”

Hannibal Lecter is the antagonist of several works by author Thomas Harris. In any case, the character has enjoyed cult status in the horror genre since the film adaptation of the book ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ cited by Trump and the acclaimed portrayal of the character by actor Anthony Hopkins.

The fact that it is hardly appropriate to compare the migrants flowing to the US, who are usually just looking for a better life, with the movie psychopaths, obviously did not matter to the viewers of the television program – they recognized Trump’s statement laughing.
