19 Best Country Album Covers You MUST See

Jail! Cracking! Pigs! Satan! Oh, you should be a country music album cover designer!
Olivier Baroni

I keep saying it: Country is the most dangerous music in the world. Almost no music genre (except perhaps hip-hop) has more violent alcoholics, polygamists and convicted criminals – both as the subject of the song content and in the form of the artists.

And so it is not surprising that the album cover design of this style of music has sometimes produced real gems – especially when it comes to vintage releases from the 1960s and 1970s. Examples? Please:

Okay, what needs to be said about this album is that it was actually recorded live, and actually in the women’s prison in Wetumpka, Alabama. The cover photo… may have been staged. Maybe.

“I kept the wine; I threw away the roses” is probably the most country music album title in the world.

Like an album «Billy, don’t sell your violin! Or: who actually made that bastard sing?” and on the cover there is an audience covering their ears, then you know it has to be an absolute blast.

Clearly. No list of great record covers would be complete without this masterpiece by the Louvin Brothers from 1959. It should be noted that the cover was designed and staged by the Louvin Brothers themselves. The photo shoot took place in a quarry, car tires soaked in kerosene were set on fire and an almost four-meter-high plywood devil was placed.
