A man from Germany did not have the injection administered once, twice or three times: no fewer than 217 vaccinations against Covid-19 were administered to him within 29 months at his own request. According to a report from the German News Agency (dpa), 134 vaccinations have been officially confirmed. Eight different vaccines were injected, including several mRNA vaccines.
Researchers from the university and the Erlangen University Hospital examined the man’s blood samples from different years. They wanted to know whether the immune cells fought the coronaviruses less effectively due to habituation effects. And they came to a surprising conclusion: Not only does the man’s immune system apparently function completely normally, certain immune cells and antibodies against Sars-CoV-2 are even significantly more common than in people who had received three vaccinations. The immune system also appeared to still be effective against other pathogens, as additional tests by the researchers showed.
An absolutely unique case
However, the researchers cannot draw any conclusions about the general population or make recommendations. They emphasize that the man is an isolated case. The group published the results of the study in the journal “The Lancet Infectious Diseases”. In Switzerland, the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) now only recommends a Covid vaccination to people who are at particular risk.
It is not known why the man from Germany was vaccinated against corona more than 200 times. By the way: he has not yet become ill with Covid. (sam)
