These are gruesome images: dozens of dead soldiers lying in an open field, smoke rising. Shortly before, two Himars rockets hit here, killing 65 people, the BBC reports.
A Russian surviving soldier hides in the bushes, films the minutes after the massacre and can be heard on video cursing loudly: “Damn commanders! In the open field! The entire 4th Company has been destroyed and the 6th is here too, damn it!”
The images come from the small village of Trudivske, about 30 kilometers southeast of the front in the Donetsk region. The 4th, 5th and 6th companies of the 36th Guards Motor Rifle Brigade assembled here.
The commander deployed soldiers as generals
And all because a commander ordered the troops to gather to properly greet Russian General Oleg Moiseyev. He wanted to visit the troops to congratulate them on their successes in the region.
A Ukrainian drone spotted the meeting and a short time later, deadly Himars missiles struck. According to “Bild”, the gun fired two M30 cluster munition rockets at the soldiers from a distance of 60 kilometers.
The Rybar Telegram channel, which is close to the Russian Defense Ministry, confirmed the massacre. And the Russian channel ‘Military Informant’ criticized the negligence of local commanders in gathering the soldiers in the open field. After two years of war it is surprising that this has not yet been learned. (neo)
