Officers responded to a call reporting human “remains” along the 4 subway line in the Bronx borough, city police said Tuesday. “When officers arrived, they discovered a human leg on the track.”
After the discovery on Saturday, research is being conducted into the origin of the body part.
The grisly discovery follows several other incidents on New York’s vast subway network, which is used by more than five million people every day. Just last week, one person was killed and five others were injured in gunfire at a subway station shortly before rush hour began.
In recent years, cases of passengers being pushed off platforms in front of arriving trains have also made headlines. (SDA)
