On Tuesday there was a false alarm on a passenger plane.

An incident occurred at Barcelona airport on Tuesday involving an Air Baltic aircraft operating a flight for Swiss. The reason for this was a potentially radioactive medical device. A spokeswoman for the Swiss media confirmed the incident when asked by Blick. “While unloading the cargo hold of flight LX1952, ground crew in Barcelona discovered that a box containing medical supplies had wet spots,” said Karin Montani.

The Spanish Civil Protection has activated the relevant emergency plans. The plane carrying the box containing the medical device was in Terminal 1 of Prat Airport. The 134 passengers and 5 crew members had to remain on the plane and wait for disaster management measures to rule out any danger. Five workers were taken to a medical center as a precaution.

As Swiss explained in the afternoon, the plane was released after an investigation. It turned out that no radioactive radiation could be detected. Montani emphasizes: “There has never been any danger to the passengers, crew and ground staff.” Further details about the incident will now be clarified by local authorities. (no madam)
