Jewish student Lahav Shapira (30) lies with a battered face in the renowned Berlin Charité and is being treated there after a suspected anti-Semitic attack.

It happened on Saturday evening: According to “Bild”, Shapira was so seriously injured by kicks and punches that he was taken to hospital by ambulance. The perpetrator is said to be a 23-year-old pro-Palestinian fellow student. There was an earlier argument between the two about the posters hanging at the university. These are about the release of Israeli hostages from Hamas violence.

Now “Bild” reports: Shapira’s laptop and mobile phone were stolen from him in the Charité. A spokesperson confirmed this to the newspaper. Unfortunately, “unauthorized people” entered a department that was effectively locked and stole the belongings of three patients. The police have been called in and are now investigating.

Exmatriculation of perpetrators required

Lahav Shapira is the brother of German comedian Shahak Shapira (35). He continues writing That is Germany.”

The Central Council of Jews calls for consequences for fellow students, NTV reports. “Anyone who beats a Jewish fellow student in the hospital because he is a Jew has no place at a German university,” said Chairman Josef Schuster (69) of the Central Council in Berlin. “There is no alternative to deregistering the student in question.” (neo)
