American actor and director Carl Weathers has passed away at the age of 76, his family announced: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Weathers. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1, 2024.”
It continues: “Carl was an extraordinary person who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, art and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and for generations.”
Carl Weathers is best known for his role as boxing star Apollo Creed in the ‘Rocky’ films alongside Sylvester Stallone. He also appeared in many other films and television series. As a director, he was responsible for two episodes of the ‘Star Wars’ series ‘The Mandalorian’, in which he also appeared in front of the camera.
