The strike will last until 11:59 pm on Monday, VC said on Friday. In doing so, Discover employees are responding to the company’s “continued refusal” to “accept standard market collective labor agreements.”
The airline Discover Airlines, known until September as Eurowings Discover, is the new holiday airline of the Lufthansa Group. The airline is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main, has a fleet of 24 aircraft flying to short, medium and long-haul tourist destinations and employs approximately 2,000 people.
The airline’s employees went on strike in December and January. The decision to halt work again was not taken lightly, but as a “last resort given the lack of progress in negotiations,” VC explains. The union appealed to travelers to inform themselves about possible flight cancellations and delays and asked for their understanding.
This weekend marks the start of the holidays for many families: schools in Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt, among others, will be closed next week for the winter holidays.
