“I have just canceled the meeting of ministry employees with Lazzarini in Israel on Wednesday,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote on Monday on the online platform X, formerly Twitter. Katz added that the reason for the non-invitation was the participation of UNRWA staff in the massacres by the Islamist Hamas in Israel on October 7. «Lazzarini must draw conclusions and resign. Proponents of terrorism are not welcome here,” Katz added on X.

Several states had previously suspended payments to the Gaza Strip aid agency as twelve of the thousands of UNRWA workers in the Gaza Strip were accused of involvement in the brutal Hamas attack that left around 1,200 dead. The UN agency has fired some employees and wants to investigate the allegations. (SDA)
