Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry announced early Thursday morning that the attacks in Sistan and Balochistan province, as with the previous Iranian military attack, were by the Sunni group Jaish al-Adl. Three women and four children were killed, according to Iran’s Irna news agency.

On Tuesday evening, Iran attacked targets of the extremist Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan. According to Pakistani information, two children were killed. On Tuesday evening, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) also attacked targets in neighboring Iraq and Syria with ballistic missiles.

Ambassador withdrawn

The nuclear power Pakistan had sharply criticized the Iranian attacks on its territory and therefore withdrew its ambassador from Tehran on Wednesday.

The unrest followed recent positive developments in relations between the two countries. On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian and Pakistan’s acting Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar met at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Neighboring countries also held a joint naval exercise. (SDA)
