The French protagonist from the hit film “Anatomie d’une chute” is suspected of rape. The judiciary has started a preliminary investigation against Samuel Theis, the Public Prosecution Service in Metz confirmed to the AFP news agency.
The 45-year-old actor and filmmaker explained that he had consensual oral sex with the plaintiff, a 27-year-old technician. He also urged people to respect the presumption of innocence. His lawyer Marie Dosé denounced the spread of “bad and false information”.
According to information from the magazine Télérama, the controversial sexual intercourse took place last June, the morning after a party that took place in Metz after several weeks of joint shooting directed by Theis.
Drugged?
The prosecutor later said he had the impression he had been given drugs. He stopped filming and filed a lawsuit at the end of July, which led to the preliminary investigation. This has not yet been heard by the judiciary.
Until the end of shooting, the production company obliged the director to drastically reduce contact with the film crew. He had to change hotels and was no longer allowed to eat in the canteen. During filming he spoke to the actors over the radio.
In the French legal drama “Anatomie d’une chute”, Theis plays the husband of a German writer living in the French Alps. When he is found dead in the snow one day, his wife, played by Sandra Hülser, becomes the main suspect. The work of French director Justine Triet won the Palme d’Or in Cannes and won two awards at the Golden Globes on Sunday. (sda/afp)
