The drama that begins on New Year’s Eve near the German-Danish border is more exciting than many crime thrillers: two children of steakhouse heiress Christina Block (48) are arrested, dragged into a car and kidnapped.
A short time later the mother contacts her: the children are with her. The visit does not last long. A few days after the kidnapping, they were returned to Denmark to live with their father, Block’s ex-husband Stephan Hensel (49).
In an interview with ‘Bild’, Christina Block now talks about the ‘worst hours of her life’. Just four days after Block reunited with Theodor (10) and Klara (13), the Hamburg High Court decided: the children must be returned to their father. The German authorities thus implemented a court decision from Denmark.
“I never thought”
After she was picked up, Block says, she collapsed. “I never imagined that my children, without being heard, would be taken to the father who had previously withheld the children illegally,” she says.
Three days after Theodor and Klara appeared at their mother’s, they were visited by an employee of the youth care agency and an officer of the State Criminal Investigation Department. According to ‘Bild’ they checked whether the children were crying or seemed depressed.
Block is sure the children were happy with her. They built a snowman in the garden and played with their mother in the snow – until the court decision came from Hamburg. According to ‘Bild’, the court did not wait for the Youth Care Office’s assessment.
Politicians criticize the judiciary
Even politicians have commented on the Block case. Vice President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Kubicki (71, FDP): “It is completely unclear to me how a Danish court, but especially the Hamburg High Court, can make a decision without even informing the youth care agency, the additional caregiver or the children to belong . As a result, the child abduction was successful.”
He does not believe that the children are in good hands with the father: ‘I have great doubts that the father, given his years of obstructive behavior, is really concerned about the well-being of the children and that he exercises custody in the interests of the children. children. the kids.”
“He never followed this.”
The Danish judiciary sees things somewhat differently. She did not implement an original decision from Germany regarding the custody of Klara and Theodor, because the family court was of the opinion that the two wanted to stay with their father Stephan Hensel. He even accused his ex-wife of violence against their children, which Block vehemently denies.
The custody dispute escalated in 2021 when Hensel failed to return Theodor and Klara to Hamburg after a visit to Denmark.
“The court clearly decided at the time that he had to return them. And he never kept it up,” says Block. But after the kidnapping to Germany, the German legal system clearly sided with the father.
It has not yet been definitively proven who was behind the kidnapping. Christina Block announced that she was behind it. The investigation is ongoing. (An)
