Capitol storm: FBI arrests suspects in Florida involvement Taiwan accuses China of intimidation through balloon flights

Rioters at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 in Washington. Hundreds of people accused of storming the U.S. Capitol three years ago have had a powerful incentive to plead guilty rather than go to prison.

On the third anniversary of the storming of the US Capitol, the FBI arrested three more suspected participants in the violent protests in Florida. The fugitives were captured at a farm in the southeastern state’s Groveland and taken into custody, the FBI in Tampa said on Saturday (local time). The two men and a woman will appear in court in Florida on Monday. They are charged with crimes in connection with the storming of the US House of Representatives on January 6, 2021.

Supporters of US President-elect Donald Trump stormed the parliament building in the capital Washington, where Congress had gathered to formally confirm his successor Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. Five people were killed as a result of the riots. Trump had earlier incited his supporters during a speech with the baseless claim that the election victory had been stolen from him through massive fraud. (sda/dpa)
