Including children: Ten injured after a serious carriage accident in Tyrol

The carriage accident took place in the Zillertal between Fügen and Hart.

A serious accident involving a carriage occurred in the Zillertal in the Austrian state of Tyrol on Saturday. Ten German tourists were injured, some seriously, including two boys aged ten and twelve.

The accident on the border between the municipalities of Fügen and Hart occurred when the coachman wanted to solve problems with the railway. According to police, the 72-year-old driver got out of the box and lost control of the two horses. They pulled the car towards the dike, where it crashed.

Children flown to hospital by helicopter

Some of the passengers were thrown from the carriage. One person was trapped under the carriage. The ten injured were a group of tourists from Germany with four children between the ages of four and 12 and six adults between the ages of 42 and 50.

According to police, most of those involved escaped with minor injuries. The two seriously injured children were flown to the clinic in Innsbruck, the other injured were taken to the Schwaz hospital. The coachman and horses were unharmed. (SDA)
