A pensioner had a serious accident with his BMW in Stetten (D) on Friday.

A spectacular accident took place in Stetten, Bavaria on Friday. According to the Schwaben Süd/West police headquarters, a 72-year-old was driving his BMW X5 towards Lindau around 3 p.m. when an animal suddenly crossed the road.

The driver then made a right turn and left the road. As there was a lowered guardrail on the right side of the road at this point, it acted like a catapult and lifted the car into the air and threw it over the guardrail.

Damage of 12,000 euros

As if that wasn’t enough, the car then slid about a hundred meters through the meadow, drove over a kilometer sign, crashed into a signpost and finally came to a stop on all four wheels.

It is also said that the BMW was badly damaged, but the driver was able to escape unscathed. The unknown animal was also unharmed. According to the police, the total damage amounts to approximately 12,000 euros (the equivalent of 11,155 francs). (dzc)
