In the case of Melissa’s drowning, her mother is now under investigation.

I wasn’t paying attention for a moment and the little girl disappeared. The large-scale police operation that was launched came too late. Melissa (†2) had already died. According to police, the girl left her parents’ house on Sunday afternoon between 4 and 5 p.m.

Contrary to the family’s statement that the two-year-old girl was wearing only pajamas, she was wearing full everyday clothes and sneakers. The researchers reported this on Thursday, according to ‘Bild’.

Autopsy confirms cause of death

Melissa was rescued lifeless on Tuesday by divers from the Lauchert, in the immediate vicinity of the family’s home. According to the newspaper, the autopsy now confirms the cause of death: drowning.

So far, there is no evidence of violence or foul play in the girl’s death. This is confirmed by the Hechingen Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Ravensburg Police Station. “Whether and to what extent a violation of the supervision obligation was a (partial) cause of the girl’s death is the subject of ongoing investigation,” the report said.

Father was not at home

The 24-year-old mother is now under investigation for negligent homicide. There is a suspicion that she has violated her supervisory duties, says prosecutor Ronny Stengel. On Thursday he pointed out that the investigation has not yet been completed.

There is currently no suspicion against Melissa’s father. According to investigators, he was not home at the time. (gs)
