Mirnesa S. stole 1.25 million euros from her employer.

She made headlines around the world as a thief worth millions: Mirnesa S.* (42) worked for a money transport company. At the end of 2022, her alleged dream man persuaded her to steal 1.25 million euros from her employer and run away with him.

After 101 days on the run, her adventure ended in prison – while her then-boyfriend is away. She has been in prison ever since, serving a three-year sentence. The broadcaster RTL visited her there. And she has a surprise in store.

She fell in love behind bars! Namely a man who is also in prison for theft. That means the letter lovebirds have never met. Getting to know each other in person or via a video call is not allowed. So the couple has no choice but to resort to pen and paper.

“He’s just the whole package.”

And she was delighted with her new friend at RTL: “You just get to know people better. This is so intense. I always wanted someone who also wanted children. Who simply reads every wish of a woman. Who treats a woman like a woman. It’s just the whole package,” she says.

On top of that. The two are so serious that they want to get married. The application for this has already been submitted. Mirnesa S. has already spoken to his mother on the phone. It will be a while before she can get to know her lover in person. He will be in prison until the end of 2026.

“A person can change”

The fact that her future husband is a criminal does not automatically mean that she thinks poorly of him. “You should not immediately condemn someone just because he has committed one or more crimes. A person can change.”

She tells RTL that they also have a common dream when they both leave their cells: having children, leaving the past behind them. “Just a normal life with a house in the countryside.” (neo)
