The case took place in Mecklenburg, North Carolina. There have been rumors for some time about a love affair between the student and teacher Gabriela N.*. His mother installed the ‘Life 360’ app on his mobile phone, which in the US is mainly used by parents to keep an eye on their young children.
He said he went to rugby training – and met his girlfriend
When the mother noticed him skipping rugby practice one day, she found out through the tracking app that he was in a nearby park. She drove there and caught them having sex in the car. The mother took photos of the car and its license plate and called the local police.
He had no choice but to arrest the teacher. In North Carolina, sex between teachers and students is prohibited, even if, as here, they are two adults in a relationship. This would only be allowed if they were married.
In a relationship since October
Gabriela N. told police that she had been his biology teacher since August and that they had been in a secret relationship since October. During questioning, she said they had sex more than five times that month.
