Things were still going well for Anna S. at the time. She was fit and enjoyed mountain climbing.

Corona has completely turned her life upside down. Anna S.* (32) from Tyrol in Austria can no longer walk. She’s too weak. The virus was putting too much strain on her body. “It’s as if you have migraines, an intestinal infection and a viral disease every day,” the teacher tells the “Kronen Zeitung”.

She is suffering from Long Covid. After probably becoming infected at school in November 2020, she did not feel better after recovering from the disease. On the contrary: she felt powerless.

Before Corona she was fit and active

And it kept getting worse. “I fainted as soon as I tried to sit up, my heart rate rose to 150. I have been bedridden ever since,” Anna S. told the newspaper.

A disaster for the teacher. Before Corona she was fit and active. For example, she loved climbing in the mountains. But we can’t think about that anymore. Now she can only get out of her apartment with help and is in a wheelchair.

“All benefits are only granted for a limited period”

Incredibly, despite her suffering, she had to fight to get the insurance company to accept Long Covid as a disease. According to one report, she was only imagining the symptoms.

Anna S.: “All benefits are only granted for a limited period. You always have to be afraid that the next expert will decide differently and the healthcare allowance will suddenly be reduced.

As part of a Long Covid investigation, it emerged: Corona caused serious damage to Anna S.’s body. The Austrian not only suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), but also has mast cell activation syndrome, tinnitus and blood vessel infections. That is why Anna S. is now fighting for recognition of her suffering and has filed a lawsuit. The result: two new reports have been drawn up on behalf of the court. And Anna S. hopes that the fight will be over and that she can look ahead. (ymh)
