Normal young people meet each other to play sports or shop together. However, two teenagers living in Germany are different. They made plans to attack. WDR reported this on Wednesday.

In a Telegram group of young Islamists, a German-Afghan (15) from Burscheid in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and a Russian (16) from Wittstock in Brandenburg discussed their possible course of action. They planned an attack with firebombs or a small truck on a Christmas market or a synagogue in the German city of Cologne. Apparently they had already agreed on a specific time period for the attack and were considering leaving the country afterwards.

Apparently there is also a video of the two suspects on the courier service. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution took action. On Tuesday, investigators went out for house searches in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg. The two teenagers suspected of terrorism were taken into custody.

Increased danger situation in Germany

Investigations are now underway in Düsseldorf and Neuruppin on suspicion of planning a terrorist crime. The two young men will be brought before the judge on Wednesday.

According to the WDR, both young people sympathized with the terrorist militia ‘Islamic State’ (IS); the boy from Brandenburg is seen by the security authorities there as a ‘relevant person’ on the Islamist scene. He is said to have spread jihadist propaganda in the past. The court in Leverkusen issued an arrest warrant for his alleged accomplice on Wednesday.

The German safety authorities currently assume a situation with increased risk. The war in the Middle East, but also the Quran burnings in Sweden in recent months, are increasing the degree of radicalization and the willingness to take action on the Islamist scene in Germany. Several terrorist suspects have recently been arrested in other European countries. There was a deadly Islamic attack on Swedish football fans in Brussels. (no)
