In the fourth “Captain America” film, Ford is on board as Thaddeus Ross, the trade magazines “Hollywood Reporter” and “Variety” report Monday (local time).
The role of the mustachioed General Ross has previously been played by William Hurt several times, including in Marvel films such as The Incredible Hulk, Avengers: Infinity War and Black Widow. Hurt died of cancer in March at the age of 71.
Making his debut in a Marvel superhero film, Ford stars alongside lead actor Anthony Mackie (44, “The Hurt Locker”). Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah (“The Cloverfield Paradox”, “Luce”) directs.
Mackie has appeared several times as Marvel hero Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, most recently in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. From the “Avengers” series, Mackie is known as an ally of Captain America (Chris Evans), who now continues his legacy. will take over. This screenplay was also picked up by the Marvel miniseries The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, starring Mackie and Sebastian Stan.
Ford recently played daring archeology professor Henry Walton Jones for the fifth time. The sequel to Indiana Jones is set to hit theaters in June 2023. (sda/dpa)
