Hamas boss Isamel Haniyeh: His organization has close ties with Switzerland.

More than a month after Hamas terrorists attacked Israel, fighting around the Gaza Strip continues unabated. Both sides have suffered hundreds of deaths, and countless civilians have also fallen victim to the fighting.

It is already known that Hamas is financed by Iran, among others. But now research by the “SonntagsZeitung” shows that the donors also come from Switzerland. The Fondation Secours Humanitaire (FSH), based in Geneva, is closely linked to Hamas, the newspaper writes.

For example, club chairman Mahmoud Baroud visited Hamas boss Ismail Haniya in Istanbul in 2021. Photos were also taken together. The foundation did not want to answer questions about this from the “SonntagsZeitung”.

Hundreds of thousands of francs in donations

Other activities also indicate a close connection with the terrorist group, the newspaper continues. For example, the FSH supports students who want to go to the Islamic University of Gaza. This is considered a Hamas stronghold, and key officials of the terrorist organization are university graduates or professors.

The FSH, which also has an office in Gaza and Ramallah, has raised almost R700,000 in donations in 2022, according to the report. Last year, almost 800,000 francs were raised. The organization claims this is intended to support orphans and women in Gaza.

Is that really the case? Unclear. According to the “SonntagsZeitung”, the Swiss foundation works closely with the Palestinian Wefaq Association in the distribution of the funds. This in turn is supported by an association founded and led by members of the terrorist organization Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

Lobbying Swiss politicians

According to the “SonntagsZeitung”, the extended arm of Hamas repeatedly lobbied Swiss politicians. Anouar Gharbi, a Swiss with close ties to the leaders of the organization, visited the Middle East together with SP State Councilor Carlo Sommaruga (64). Sommaruga did not respond to a questionnaire from the “SonntagsZeitung”. Other politicians also traveled abroad with Gharbi.

In addition to the foundation with direct connections to Hamas, the radical anti-Israel network Samidoun is also expanding in Switzerland. The network’s leadership team meets again and again for conferences in this country.

In Germany, the group is monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and classified as extremist. The group has now been banned in our neighboring country. (zis)
