The General Staff of the Russian Army apparently uses incorrect maps.

The Russian General Staff makes decisions based on maps that do not reflect the reality on the battlefield. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), citing Russian military bloggers.

Blogger Roman Alekhin claims on his Telegram channel: The General Staff of the Russian Army sometimes uses maps that differ from the real situation at the front. This would force soldiers to conduct operations based on false statements.

He received this information from soldiers directly at the front. The blogger made this claim after another military blogger on social media asked why Russian troops were not attacking alleged large Ukrainian troop concentrations near the front lines.

“That’s how they motivate the soldiers.”

«There is a real card and another for the general staff. Completely different layouts are shown on the two sides,” says Alekhin. According to the blogger, the general staff and commanders are said to be working with false maps. “They push the soldiers to bring the real map closer to the General Staff map,” Alekhin explains. These are attempts to cover up progress in the war in Ukraine.

Apparently not the only problems that the Russian soldiers have to deal with. It is said that the commanders did not correctly report the forward movements or withdrawals of their units. This is also why the General Staff maps are inaccurate. (An)
