The Berlin police are missing a number of firearms, ammunition, batons and other operational equipment. As of 2021, they are considered lost or missing. This is evident from a response from the domestic administration to a parliamentary question from MP Niklas Schrader (left). Accordingly, in 2021, a gun was lost by a State Criminal Investigation Department police officer while on duty.
Another has been missing since this year. The weapon was assigned to an employee of the Central Special Services police and disappeared while off duty, according to the October 25 response. Both guns were lost outside the office.
In addition, more than 100 ammunition, almost 390 irritating spray devices and approximately 130 batons are missing from the police inventory. According to the information, the Directorate of Operations/Traffic is missing the most ammunition with 31 missing rounds, followed by the Central Directorate of Special Services with 30 rounds. 35 ballistic protection vests are also considered missing (as of October 18, 2023).
