Shani Louk is dead according to her mother. Turkey celebrates the founding of the republic 100 years ago

German hostage Shani Louk, kidnapped by Hamas, is said to be dead. The mother of 22-year-old Ricarda Louk reported this to the RTL/n-tv broadcaster. “Unfortunately, we received the news yesterday that my daughter is no longer alive.” An official confirmation is still pending.

Louk was at the Nova music festival in Israel, which was attacked by Hama on October 7. After the attack, in which 260 people were slaughtered, a video of Louk circulating online showed her half-naked in a pickup truck, with a gash on her head and her legs twisted. A Hamas fighter sat on her and another spat on her motionless body. The video gave the impression that the young woman was already dead.

However, a few days later, the mother stated in a video that her daughter was still alive. She should be in a hospital in Gaza City, the mother continued. “We have information that Shani is still alive. But she has serious head injuries and her condition is critical.”

Hostages are still being held by Hamas. Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said in the evening that the families of 239 abductees had been informed on Sunday. That’s nine more than the day before. It is expected that this number could increase even further. (saw)
