“The wife, son, daughter and grandson of Wael al-Dahdu, the office manager of the Arab Service in Gaza, have been killed in an Israeli airstrike,” Al-Jazeera said on Thursday evening.
The Israeli military said on Thursday that the military had attacked “Hamas terrorist infrastructure” in the area.
According to Al-Jazeera, al-Dahdu’s family had sought shelter in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Nuseirat is located in the center of the Gaza Strip, south of the Wadi Gaza riverbed.
The Israeli army had previously urged residents of the northern part to move south of Wadi Gaza “for their safety.” Since then, several hundred thousand residents have found their way there. The army later set the boundary for the ‘safe area’ even further south on a map distributed on X.

Al-Jazeera footage shows the journalist’s moving images when he heard of his family’s death. He burst into tears during the live broadcast. In the hospital, he holds his seven-year-old daughter wrapped in a shroud and touches the face of his murdered fifteen-year-old son. He accused the Israeli army of “targeted attacks” on civilians. “There is no safe place in Gaza, no one is safe”al-Dahdu said in an interview.
“We will not let our enemies gloat over us. Allah is sufficient for us and the best of those on whom we may depend.”
