The Copa Airlines Boeing 737 was actually scheduled to fly from Panama City to Tampa in the American state of Florida on Friday. As soon as the plane took off, it turned back around. The reason for this was a “suspicious object” in the toilet.
As ‘The Guardian’ reported, among others, there was even talk of a suspected bomb threat. The pilot didn’t hesitate for a second and made an emergency landing on a specially secured runway in Panama City. In addition to the crew, there were 144 passengers on board.
It was a disposable adult diaper
In the end, all the excitement was for nothing. The alleged bomb eventually turned out to be a diaper. The police from Panama announced this on X (formerly Twitter). They could therefore have identified a disposable adult diaper as the object that caused the shock. So it was a false alarm.
After officials were able to rule out any danger, the passengers were flown safely to Florida on a second attempt. (dzc)
