An evacuation took place at the Louvre on Saturday.

The visit to the Louvre came to an abrupt end for many museum lovers on Saturday. Apparently the Parisian attraction has received a bomb threat, reports BFM TV.

The Louvre itself wrote on X, formerly Twitter, shortly after noon: “For security reasons, the Louvre will close its doors this Saturday. People who have booked a visit for the same day will get their money back.”

“I only saw the Sphinx”

A Blick reader was on site when all visitors were asked to leave the building. “Suddenly a security guard shouted for everyone to leave the building immediately.” It was a short visit for the Blick reader. “I’ve only been there for twenty minutes and only saw the Sphinx.”

Other videos on social media show people walking quickly towards the exit as an alarm sounds.

Just on Friday there was a fatal attack on a teacher in France. A Chechen killed the man with a knife at a high school in Arras in northern France and seriously injured three other people. Against the backdrop of the attack and the current situation in the Middle East, France has imposed the highest terror alert level. As “BFM TV” writes, the closure of the Louvre is related to this.
