It is a particularly serious case of child pornography: a German (47) from the Bremgarten AG district was found to have more than 1.4 million illegal files on his devices. A large part of it was exchanged or passed on to third parties. The Aargau Public Prosecutor’s Office announced this last week. The suspect has been in custody since the spring and will be sent to prison for six years and deported for 10 years, according to the indictment.

But who is the arrested man? Research by Blick shows: It is Armin P.* from a village near the border with the canton of Zurich. “I saw the police here then,” says a resident of the apartment building. “When I recently read about it, it rang a bell for me.”

Did he take pictures of children out the window?

Frightening: P., who has lived in Switzerland since 2008, recently lived with his wife (45) in an apartment with a direct view of a children’s playground – like where he lived before. “He could easily have photographed children,” says a neighbor. “I shudder to think about it.”

In fact, P. is also accused of visiting playgrounds and amusement parks in Switzerland and Germany and secretly photographing children. The true scale of the activities only became clear after analyzing the extensive IT infrastructure.

One room was said to have been “always closed”.

“I heard he had a room that was always closed,” said another neighbor. His wife is said to have “knew nothing of her husband’s actions”. The two were rarely seen. His wife is now back in Germany. On the internet she describes her relationship status as ‘divorced’. She did not respond to Blick’s contact.

P. himself worked in the IT sector. He is said to have been distributing his files on the dark web since 2019. How was he caught? The employees of the Cybercrime Competence Center of the Aargau Public Prosecutor’s Office had received a tip from colleagues at the Cybercrime Central and Contact Point in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. Experts from Kapo Aargau were also involved in the complex digital research.

P. is in an early prison sentence

According to information from Blick, P. was observed by investigators, among other things. When asked, Adrian Schuler from the Aargau Public Prosecutor’s Office said: “For tactical reasons, it cannot be explained in more detail how the law enforcement authorities were able to convict the man.”

Apparently P. filmed his victims with a camera hidden in his bag or backpack and, among other things, managed a darknet site on which the name ‘Baby’ would have appeared. The Public Prosecution Service does not say anything about this or the details of the exact facts. “This will only become apparent during the court hearing,” says Schuler. Exactly this: “The investigation revealed no evidence of sexual activity with children by the suspect.” And: P. “confessed” to the facts of which he was accused. He is serving an early prison sentence.

It is not yet clear when P. will go to court. A local resident thinks: “Such a person is sick and should not only get six years, but should never be released.”
