Apparently German politician Alice Weidel and her family were in danger.

AfD leader Alice Weidel (44) had to cancel an appearance in the election campaign due to the threat of an attack. A party spokesman said on Wednesday that “indications had been accumulating (…) pointing to an attack on her family.” Weidel and her family were therefore “taken from their private apartment to a safe place by security authorities.”

“As a precaution,” she refrained from public appearances on Tuesday, the spokesperson said. Weidel therefore did not participate as planned in an AfD event for the Bavarian state elections in Mödlareuth, Bavaria-Thuringia. It remained unclear how long Weidel would refrain from public appearances. (AFP)
