According to Dutch authorities, two shooting attacks took place in the Dutch city of Rotterdam on Thursday. The scenes of the shooting Thursday afternoon were a university clinic and an apartment in Rotterdam. Two people were killed and one was seriously injured.
According to the police, a 32-year-old suspect was arrested near the hospital. The man from Rotterdam is suspected of having committed both crimes alone. A motive is not yet known, but according to the police it was a “targeted action”.
The shooting is said to have occurred on Thursday afternoon, the police announced in a statement at 5:30 p.m. Two fires were also reported in connection with the shooting.
On Thursday evening, the Rotterdam police announced during the press conference that the suspected perpetrator was a student at Erasmus University.
The victims are a 39-year-old woman who was shot in the apartment and a 46-year-old university teacher. A 14-year-old girl was seriously injured. The girl is said to be the daughter of the deceased woman.
According to police and media reports, the incident unfolded as follows: Shots were fired in an apartment in the west of the city on Thursday afternoon. Shortly afterwards the building was set on fire. Shots were also fired in a lecture hall at the Erasmus Hospital, 1.5 kilometers away. A fire broke out there too.

Nothing can yet be said about the motive for the crime. The alleged perpetrator is already known to the law and has been prosecuted for animal abuse.
