Kiev could get American missiles – the night at a glance EU punishes Ruag for illegal hand grenade cartel – just misses out on millions in fines

The US may soon supply Ukraine with longer-range ATACMS missiles. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visits Canada. Several people were killed and injured in the city of Kremenchuk.

Biden promises ATACMS missiles

The US government will soon supply the weapons system requested by Kiev to defend against aggressor Russia, the Washington Post and US broadcaster NBC News reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to the Washington Post, it is an ATACMS variant that can be equipped with cluster munitions. NBC News reported that US President Joe Biden promised Zelensky that he would deliver “a small number” of ATACMS during his visit to Washington on Thursday. The US government has not confirmed the reports. “I have nothing to announce,” a White House spokeswoman said during Friday’s press conference. But in the past it has always been made clear that a possible ATACMS delivery is not off the table.

Zelensky thanks Canada for support

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy thanked the NATO country for its support during his first visit to Canada since the Russian invasion in February 2022. “Canada’s support to Ukraine with weapons and equipment has allowed us to save thousands of lives,” Zelenskyy said in a speech to parliament in the capital Ottawa. He was celebrated with great applause and cheers. Zelenskyj had previously been received in parliament by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Deaths and injuries in attack on Kremenchuk

At least one person has been killed in a Russian airstrike in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk. Another 31 people were injured, including three children, the military governor of the Poltava region said. He said the Russians had fired several rockets at Kremenchuk, southeast of Kiev. Air defenses managed to deflect one of the projectiles, while another hit a civilian building.

Ukraine confirms attack on Russian Black Sea Fleet

Ukraine has claimed responsibility for the missile attack on the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet on the annexed Crimean peninsula. “At around 12 noon on September 22, Ukrainian armed forces carried out a successful attack on the command staff of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in temporarily occupied Sevastopol,” the Ukrainian military said.

British broadcaster BBC has published a verified video showing the destructive power of the missile impact on the fleet’s headquarters. Citing a Ukrainian military source, the BBC said the attack used Storm Shadow cruise missiles, like those Kiev received from Britain and France. Ships from the Russian Black Sea Fleet regularly bomb Ukrainian cities with missiles.

What will be important on Saturday

Zelenskyj concludes his visit to Canada this Saturday. He wants to meet, among other things, representatives of the Canadian business community and the Ukrainian community.
