In Rhineland-Palatinate, a group of wild boars surrounded and harassed an 11-year-old boy. The boy fled to a rock and from there alerted the police, officials in Montabaur reported Thursday. The emergency services freed the boy from his plight. He was safely handed over to his mother. The animals were not injured.

As a result, the eleven-year-old played in a forest in Gemünden in the Westerwald district on Thursday. When he saw the approaching brook with its piglets, he fled onto the rocks. He could no longer leave without danger. The boy, who was audibly shocked on the phone, alerted the police because he did not want to endanger his parents. (AFP)
