Rudy Giuliani has several proceedings on his hands: it’s about voter fraud attempts.

Proceeds from the fundraising dinner at Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, will help the 79-year-old attorney pay millions in legal fees.

That reports the broadcaster CNN Thursday (local time). Giuliani is at the center of several cases surrounding the 2020 presidential election. In August, extensive charges were filed against him and 18 other people in connection with attempted voter fraud in the state of Georgia — including Trump himself.

Another fundraiser was planned

Donations of more than a million dollars had already been pledged before dinner on Thursday evening, Giuliani’s son Andrew told broadcaster WABC. That’s not enough to cover his father’s legal costs. Particularly with regard to the Georgia lawsuit, it was enough to “put together a team of really strong lawyers who can actually fight it.” Trump has also agreed to hold another fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago Florida estate in the fall or winter.

Giuliani, who served as mayor of New York from 1994 to 2001, has been one of the most controversial people in the United States since the 2020 presidential election at the latest. Before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, Giuliani had stirred up the crowd at a rally. As Trump’s personal attorney, he was one of the driving forces behind the post-election campaign to spread unsubstantiated allegations of fraud and prevent a confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory. Dozens of lawsuits in which the Trump camp challenged the election results failed. (SDA)
