Daniel Abed Khalife was in custody. Now he’s broken out.

Daniel Abed Khalife (21), a detained terror suspect, has escaped from a prison in the British capital London. As Scotland Yard announced on Wednesday, the 21-year-old was in custody at London’s Wandsworth Prison. He would face charges of terrorism and treason. According to media reports, the man was a member of the British armed forces and allegedly planted dummy bombs on a military base. He denies the allegations.

It is likely the fugitive is still in the London area, the manhunt said. He also has connections to the Kingston neighborhood. The public was asked for information but warned not to approach the man and to call 911 immediately. However, so far there is no indication that the escaped poses a danger to the general public.

Wandsworth is home to many pre-trial defendants. In addition, prison, notorious for its poor conditions, is often the first place of detention following a guilty verdict. For example, the German former tennis player Boris Becker (55) was detained here for several weeks after his conviction in the spring of 2022 before being transferred to the Huntercombe prison with a lower security level.
