Heavy rainfall is currently hitting the region around Istanbul. Flash floods swept through some parts of Istanbul late Tuesday night.
According to local media, many residents were trapped in their cars. Some metro stations were also affected by the flooding. A hospital was also affected by the flooding.
According to a statement from the authorities in Istanbul, the districts of Arnavutköy and Başakşehir have been particularly affected. Two people died as a result of the flooding. They were swept away by the water.
Emergency teams have been deployed
Governor Davut Gül called for precautions to be taken and not to drive motorcycles on the streets during the floods. Emergency teams have been sent to various areas.
Although there was no flooding or rain on the Asian side of Istanbul, there were reports of lightning strikes in Beykoz, Kavacık, Kadikoy, Sultanbeyli and Üskudar districts. (neo)
