Escalation in Munich! On Monday there are incredible scenes in front of the camera. Activists of the ‘last generation’ block Einsteinstrasse in the middle of the city, making access to the highway impossible. Suddenly a man appears – and gives one of the climate activists a firm slap in the face.
The man doesn’t seem to care that the cameras are on him. Shortly before his performance, he even asks one of those present to film. “Film, I’m an anti-climate glue,” the man said directly to the camera. Before slapping the young man in the face, he says, “It’s totally stupid what you’re doing there.”
The activist is visibly surprised after the thunderous slap in the face, falls to the ground and remains there. He throws up both hands protectively. The man replies with a dry “So” and runs off.
Blockades due to car fairs
It is unlikely that the man will just get away with it. As the Munich police said when asked by Bild, authorities were aware of the video. “Criminal proceedings will be opened and investigations will be conducted.”
The blockades in Munich are a result of the major IAA car show, which is taking place this week. As a precaution, the city therefore banned roadblocks until September 12 – in vain, as the actions now show. But the fact that someone becomes as violent as in the Munich case is probably new. (zis)
