22 people were injured in a train accident in Poland on Friday, three of them seriously. A spokesman for the fire service told AFP news agency that a local train collided with a truck on an unguarded level crossing near Plonsk in the morning. The city of Plonsk is located about 65 kilometers northwest of the capital Warsaw.
Of the 22 injured, one victim was taken to hospital by helicopter, according to the fire service spokesperson. Three others were taken to hospital by ambulance. 18 other people could have gone home after on-site care.
Due to the collision with the lorry, the train derailed and the route was blocked. The truck was completely destroyed, Polish media reported. The cause of the accident was initially unclear. (AFP)
