Erdogan met Putin in Kazakhstan on Thursday. On this occasion, the two presidents agreed to expand economic cooperation between their countries. Putin specifically suggested setting up a gas roundabout in Turkey to transport natural gas to other countries, as this route is “currently the safest delivery route”.
Erdogan apparently agreed: Construction work should start as soon as possible, he said, according to the reports. “There will be no delay in this matter.” The gas center could therefore arise in Thrace in the border area with Greece and Bulgaria.

The project encountered a lack of understanding in the EU. Such a project “makes no sense” because Europe wants to reduce its dependence on Russian gas anyway, the French presidential office said.
