In tears – another witness describes beatings at the hands of Hollywood star Spacey. BBC presenter allegedly paid teenagers money for intimate photos

A young actor burst into tears after describing an alleged sexual assault by Hollywood star Kevin Spacey. In a tearful recording of his police interrogation played Monday at Spacey’s trial in London, the man described how he did not resist when the American actor stuck his head in his crotch.

“You just don’t want to upset someone who is so powerful in the industry you want to get into,” said the fourth alleged victim in the Spacey trial, who cannot all be named for legal reasons. According to the witness, Spacey already had a reputation for being attracted to “young straight men”. But he didn’t know he was a “sex offender” at the time, he said in his statement.

Spacey is charged with 12 offenses against four men between 2001 and 2013 in London and Gloucestershire, South West England, all of which he denies. Prosecutors have described Oscar winner Spacey as a “sexual bully” who takes pleasure in making others uncomfortable.

Asked for help

The up-and-coming actor and Spacey got to know each other, the prosecution said, after the young man wrote him a letter asking for his help. The two smoked cannabis and shared a pizza before Spacey first approached the victim. He was very uncomfortable, but fell asleep and woke up a few hours later with his zipper open as Spacey performed sexual acts on him. When he said “no”, Spacey asked him to leave and forbade him to talk about it.

In his opening statement, Spacey’s attorney suggested that the alleged victims were out for money, calling their statements “half-truths” and “fucking lies.”

The first allegations of abuse against Spacey were made in October 2017, shortly after the start of the #MeToo movement. Unlike other stars like Bill Cosby and R&B singer R. Kelly, Spacey has never been found guilty of sexual assault in court. (sda/afp)
