Yevgeny Prigozhin (62) rehearsed the uprising against the Kremlin on June 24 – and lost. Russian security authorities searched his residential and business premises in several cities and seized 10 billion rubles – the equivalent of about 99 million francs.
Photos of the raid have now emerged, showing how Prigozhin would have lived in Russia: apparently in luxury. They especially show a lot of guns – even in the bedroom.
Framed photos of beheadings
Prigozhin apparently had his own sickroom, a swimming pool, a sauna, a gym, a helipad (including a heli), and a prayer room. Disturbingly, Wagner’s boss had framed and hung a photograph of human heads, apparently after beheadings.
In addition to the countless weapons, the special forces also found wigs, gold bars, fake passports – and boxes of wads of cash. A giant sledgehammer, a symbol of the Wagner group, stood in a room labeled “for negotiations.”
Shortly after the photos of his villa were published, pictures of selfies of Prigozhin in disguise circulated on Russian channels.
Prigozhin got money back
Searching Prigozhin’s rooms found a total of 80 boxes full of valuables and cash, but he has now recovered them.
On Sunday, a driver with power of attorney collected the 10 billion rubles, several hundred thousand dollars and five gold bars in St. Petersburg and took everything to Moscow, where Prigozhin would have been at the time. Where he is now is unknown. (new)
