In fact, they wanted to be together forever. But barely an hour after the ‘yes’, groom Toraze D.* († 48) collapsed. All help came too late for D. – he died on the spot.
Now friends of the widow Johnnie Mae D.* have launched a call for donations, writes the American news portal NBC News.
“Just an hour after the ceremony, his heart stopped”
“We went to church and it was a beautiful ceremony,” says Jewel R.*, a friend of the couple. The two were very much looking forward to the day together. But when the newlyweds wanted to take pictures, the 48-year-old suddenly collapsed – in front of his children.
“At 4:35 p.m., just an hour after the ceremony began, his heart stopped,” the friend said. “It happened in seconds.” An ambulance was immediately called – in vain: Toraze D. died, probably from a blood clot.
“It Was the Happiest Day of D’s Life”
Monica M.*, his good friend, also knows that the wedding meant a lot to Toraze D.: “It was the happiest day in D’s life. I saw the smile on his face and how happy he was. It’s just his energy. I knew it was a big day for him.”
For his wife, it was the third fatal blow in a short time: two people had died in their environment – including her father. “Johnnie Mae D. has been through so much. She’s such a loving person,” the friend said.
That’s why Monica M. has placed a call for donations online. This is designed to support the widow with the funeral costs and with her children – and it works. Within five days, the equivalent of CHF 16,750 is already in the account.
Toraze D. will be buried on July 5. (lia)
