Powerful Minister of Economy, Sergio Massait will be the only candidate for president for the ruling party in the elections in Argentina to be held next year in October. “Due to institutional, political and social responsibility, our area has decided to form a list of unity that will represent us in the next elections,” announced the official account of Unión por la Patria, the new name of the Frente de Todos, the coalition that rules Argentina.

Massa (51) has been Minister of the Economy since July 28, 2022, after serving as deputy and mayor of Tigre (Buenos Aires province). Rossi, 63, is the chief of cabinet of Alberto Fernández’s government, after serving as councilor in Rosario, Mercosur parliamentarian, deputy and defense minister between 2019 and 2021.

Rossi, very close to the Argentine president, recently announced that he will participate in Paso with his own candidacy. Both President Fernández and the Vice President and former President have given up their chances to run in the October 22 election.
