15 dead in serious road accident with senior coach Excrement in drinking water: now cholera danger is coming to the flooded areas

At least 15 people have been killed in a collision between a bus and a truck in Canada. Another ten people have been taken to hospital with injuries, a police representative in the central province of Manitoba said Thursday (local time). According to the initial findings, the victims are mainly elderly people from the bus.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences to the families of the victims. His thoughts are with the injured. “I can’t imagine the pain those affected are feeling, but the Canadians are here for you,” Trudeau tweeted.

According to another police spokesman, the accident happened at the intersection of two highways that are not separated by bridges or underpasses in that rural part of Canada. The bus was traveling south on Highway 5 and crossing lanes on Highway 1, which heads east. There the truck with a trailer was on its way, which hit the bus.

“I don’t think we’ve had such a major public transportation accident in Manitoba during my tenure or before. This is new for us and our detectives and it’s also very emotionally stressful for them,” another police spokesman said at the convened press conference.

A total of twelve ambulances were called in shortly before noon local time after the accident, at least one helicopter was involved and the injured were flown to the larger cities of Winnipeg and Brandon. Most of the injuries were head injuries or of an orthopedic nature, it said.

The exact background of the extremely serious accident initially remained unclear. Specialized investigators and collision reconstruction experts were deployed to uncover the details of the accident. Information about this could also come from the two drivers. According to police, they initially survived the crash and were treated in hospital. (sda/dpa)
