Tornado rages in a small Texas town – to 100 injured Standing ovation and a boycott boycott: this is how Selenskyj’s speech went in parliament

A tornado devastated the small town of Perryton, Texas, injuring dozens of people. At least three people were killed as the whirlwind slashed through the north Texas town near the Oklahoma border on Thursday evening (local time), Perryton Fire Chief Paul Dutcher told US media. Up to 100 people were taken to the local hospital with injuries.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced emergency relief for Perryton. He is praying for those affected by that “terrible storm,” Abbott wrote on Twitter. “Texas stands ready to provide additional resources to help protect our communities.”

The first photos showed the rubble of dismantled houses in the city of about 8,000 inhabitants. Dutcher spoke to ABC News about significant damage to the north and east of Perryton, radio towers had fallen. The existing power supply is currently interrupted, energy company Xcel Energy informs the broadcaster.

According to the reports, the tornado is part of a massive storm front that blanketed much of the southern U.S. from Texas to Florida with severe thunderstorms, heavy rains and hail. The U.S. Weather Service continued to warn of tornadoes and ping pong ball-sized hailstones in parts of Texas and Oklahoma into the evening. (sda/dpa)
