Michael Fassbender crashed during the 24 hours of Le Mans. The actor and amateur driver crashed into a crash barrier with his Porsche 911 on Sunday. Fassbender was unharmed in the accident. He drove the car back into the pits, but the car could not be repaired.
Footage shows the 46-year-old ‘X-Men’ star losing control on a curve and crashing sideways into the gang. Car parts fly through the air before the car comes to a stop.

“We are shocked,” the auto racing team “Proton Competition” wrote on Twitter, explaining: “There is no chance to repair the damage. Le Mans was not good for us this year!” Michael Fassbender drove for the team “Proton Competition” together with the Austrian Richard Lietz and the Estonian Martin Rump. The accident happened minutes before Fassbender could finish his six-hour racing shift.
Fassbender had already realized his dream last year to drive the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The German-Irish star trained for it for three years. Also in 2022, the native of Heidelberg competed in “Proton Competition”. Together with Australian Matt Campbell and Canadian Zacharie Robichon he finished 51. Last year he only crashed in qualifying.
Michael Fassbender is not the first Hollywood star to participate in Le Mans. Paul Newman drove in 1979, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey has been there four times.
