The year 2022 in the Google Trends Quiz

A slightly different year overview: In the quiz we show you Google searches as curves and you have to figure out what was searched for in 2022.

The year 2022 kept us all sharp. From February, the epicenter of the news situation was the Russian offensive war in Ukraine. On Google it looked like this in Switzerland:

Google searches for “Ukraine” skyrocketed in late February, and for the months that followed hardly anyone seemed interested. But if you look closely, you can see that they have been at a consistently higher level since then than they were before February 24.

Also take a good look at this quiz. After all, the year 2022 was not just news from Ukraine. But recognizing the events based on their searches requires a keen eye – and a good memory.

How it works: You will see curves from Google Trends. On the platform, every user is free to enter so-called keywords. The result is a graph for a previously selected catchment area that shows how people searched for this keyword on Google over time.

This time you will only see curves from the year 2022. The grid lines mark the first day of each month and the search catchment area is limited to Switzerland.
